MODERN CLOISONNÉ
From the 1950’s cloisonné makers introduced
elements
of modernism into their designs. The
influences
of art nouveau, art deco, minimalism and
abstraction
were all taken up, which made the art
form
look distinctly mid 20th century.
These designs were characterised by minimal use
of
wires, shaded enamel colours, high polish finishes
and
silver or chromed mounts.
Again, the Ando company were to the fore with these
developments.
The following lots are good examples of such works.
